David de Rothschild will soon start his ocean crossing from San Francisco to Sydney. Why would a descendent of one of the most famous families plan a trip like this? Very simple, he wants to create awareness for the massive problem of litter pollution in the oceans. Therefore, he and a rotating design team created a 20 meters long catamaran called Plastiki made of 12.500 reclaimed plastic bottles.
